Introduction
The purpose of a financial statement is to provide information about the financial
operations of a business (Bragg, 2023). There are three basic financial statements (income
statement, balance sheets, and cash flow statement), and they provide valuable information that
is used by lenders, and investors to determine the health, profitability, and sustainability of a
business. These three financial statements are also used by the business as a tool for planning
and strategy and to help determine the financial direction of the business
During this assignment, we will download the 2Q 2023 financial report for Deere &
Company, download the annual report, list the primary sections in each of the financial
statements, explain each financial statement and how its information differs from that of the
other financial statements, and identify the major inflow and outflows of cash for each section of
the cash flow statement.
Primary Financial Section in each Financial Statement
Deere & Company’s 2Q 2023 income statement consists of three financial statements, the
statements of consolidated income, the condensed consolidated balance sheets, and the
statements of consolidated cash flows.
The statement of consolidated income (income statement) is a key financial document
that details the company’s earnings, expenditures, and profits over a specific period of time
(“Income Statement,” 2024). The income statement shows the financial health of the company.
It is used by lenders and investors to determine the profitability of the company which enables
them to determine if it is risky to provide loans or invest in the company. It is also used as a tool,
