CC: “For the past 3 days, it burns when I pee and I have to go all the time.”
D.R. is a 61-year-old female who presents with urinary frequency and burning
with urination for the past 3 days. She reports suprapubic discomfort and foul-
smelling urine. Symptoms have been constant since onset. Urination worsens
the discomfort. She has not tried any OTC treatments such as
HPI:
phenazopyridine (Pyridium). She rates the burning sensation as 5/10. She
reports a previous UTI in 2024, which was positive for E. coli and treated
successfully with ciprofloxacin. She is married and sexually active with one
partner, does not use protection, and denies concerns for STIs. Denies fever,
chills, nausea, vomiting, hematuria, vaginal irritation, and flank pain.
