Inleiding
Oscar Wilde schreef: ‘’Anybody can make history. Only a great man can write it”. Naar
mijn mening is dat waar het vak historiografie over gaat. Niet over de mensen die de
Geschiedenis maakten maar degenen die erover schreven.

Door de eeuwen heen zijn er veel diversen historici geweest, die gebeurtenissen uit het
verleden hebben opgeschreven. Voor het vak historiografie was het de bedoeling om drie
tekstbronnen van oude historici uit drie verschillende tijdperken te selecteren. Door
middel van het bijwonen van de colleges en het nodige spitwerk heb ik de volgende drie
bronnen gekozen:

1. De Vita Caesarum: Tiberius Nero Caesar (The Twelve Caesars).
Auteur: Gaius Suetonius Tranquillus
Periode: Romeinse tijd.

2. Vita Karoli Magni (The Life Of Charlemagne).
Auteur: Einhard
Periode: Vroege middeleeuwen

3. La Vita di Dante (The Life of Dante)
Auteur: Giovanni Boccaccio
