Typically do not perform BP's on newborns on mother/baby unless they have
normal newborn vital signs heart murmur and then the physician will usually ask for 4 extremity BP's.
• O2 saturation 95-100% on Room Air (usually only done if a newborn is having
difficulty, or when we perform the congenital heart screen).
• Congenital heart screen is performed after 24 hours by measuring the O2
saturation in the right hand/wrist and either foot. The difference should be 3%
less.

Calculating the EDD/EDC/EDB

-usually have the first prenatal visit within the first 8 weeks
-Labs are typically drawn at the first visit

-When the liquid has evaporated, if it is amniotic fluid, it will leave a pattern on
slide that looks like a fern
