CHEM 120 – Week 4: Ideal Gas Law and Acids & Bases (University Lab Module)
CHEM 120 – Week 4: Ideal Gas Law and Acids & Bases (University Lab Module) This module introduces students to two core areas of general chemistry: gas behavior and acid–base chemistry. In the Ideal Gas Law section, students explore the relationship between pressure, volume, temperature, and moles, using laboratory measurements to apply PV = nRT and understand real-world gas behavior. In the acids and bases component, students learn to identify acid–base properties, measure pH, distinguish strong versus weak acids, and analyze neutralization reactions. The module strengthens quantitative problem-solving, experimental accuracy, and conceptual understanding needed for future chemistry and biological applications.
