This groundbreaking study investigates the power of standardized mastery content assessments, administered during the critical first year of a baccalaureate nursing program, to predict outcomes on the NCLEX-RN licensure exam. With nursing programs under pressure to maintain high first-time pass rates and address the national nursing shortage, early identification of at-risk students is more vital than ever. Through rigorous quantitative analysis of student data, this research reveals that a student's score on the Pharmacology content-specific assessment is a significant early predictor of NCLEX-RN success or failure, accurately classifying outcomes with 73.7% accuracy. While assessments in Fundamentals and Mental Health were also examined, Pharmacology emerged as the most powerful standalone indicator.
