Voornamelijkste functies van cardiovasculair systeem:
- Aanvoer O2, voedingsstoffen
- Afvoer CO2, ander afval
- Transporteert hormonen, andere moleculen
- Temperatuurbalans en vloeistofregeling
- Zuur-base balans
- Immuunfunctie


Het cardiovasculair systeem:

3 grote elementen:
1. Een pomp = het hart
2. Kanalen = de bloedvaten
3. Een vloeistof = het bloed

à Hart genereert druk om bloed door bloedvaten te drijven
à Bloedstroom moet voldoen aan metabolische eisen



Het hart

- Vier kamers
o Atria rechts en links (RA, LA): boven, ontvangende kamers
o Ventrikels rechts en linkers (RV, LV): bodem, pompkamers

- Pericardium
- Pericardiale holte
- Pericardiale vloeistof

- De dikte varieert direct met stress (vb: inspanning) op kamerwanden

- Linker ventrikel is de krachtigste kamer en dus de grootste

- Bij krachtige training (vb: krachttraining), neemt de grootte van de linker hartkamer
toe → uithoudingsvermogen versus krachttraining

- Als gevolg van geïntercaleerde schijven: impulsen reizen snel in de hartspier en laten
deze als één grote spiervezel fungeren; alle vezels trekken samen.


Intrinsieke controle van hartactiviteit: cardio-geleidingssysteem

Spontane ritmiek: speciale hartcellen genereren en
verspreiden elektrisch signaal:

- Sinoatriaal (SA) knooppunt
- Atrioventriculaire (AV) knoop
- AVbundle (bundle of His)
- Purkinjevezels

Elektrisch signaal verspreidt zich via gap junctions

à intrinsieke hart ritme (HR): 100 slagen/ min (zonder
neurale innovatie / stimulatie of hormonale stimulatie)


Extrinsieke controle van de hartactiviteit: parasympathisch zenuwstelsel
= verminderde activiteit

Reikt het hart via de nervus vagus (10e hersenzenuw)

Draagt impulsen naar SA, AV-knooppunten:

- Geeft acetylcholine af en hyperpolariseert cellen
- Verlaagt HR en contractiekracht

Verlaagt HR onder intrinsieke HR:

- Intrinsieke HR: 100 slagen/ min
- Normale rust HR (RHR): 60 tot 100 slagen/ min
- Elite duursporter: 35 slagen/ min à hoe beter getraind iemand is, hoe lager zijn rust
hartfrequentie, want zijn hartspier is groter dus met zelfde contractie gaat hij meer
bloed rondpompen à kleinere hartfrequentie nodig
