Welcome to the Sound Engineering 2A Module. This module is pitched at NQF level 6, and
carries 15 credits.
PURPOSE OF THE MODULE
The objective of this module is to provide learners with knowledge and skills to develop an
understanding of the processes and techniques of audio recording. The module examines the
possibilities offered by traditional and emerging technologies for the production of music.
MODULE OUTCOMES
Display an understanding of practical live sound
Demonstrate an understanding of acoustic considerations involved in live sound system
operations
Demonstrate the understanding of electrical theory appropriate to live sound system
operations
Display an understanding of the characteristics of sound in the live context
Demonstrate an understanding of aesthetic considerations involved in live sound system
operations
Apply general principles of microphone choice, placement and stereo mic techniques
Identify various sound reinforcement needs in high-level and live performance venues
Display an understanding of advanced audio theory
Display an understanding of importing audio data
Demonstrate an advanced understanding of transfer protocols
