The Hunger Games
This book was written by Suzanne Collins. It’s a sort of fantasy book.
In the country Panem, the future America, there are 12 districts with the Capitol as leader. The capitol is
the most rich and most powerful district, district 1. District 12 is the poorest. Each district is surrounded
by a big fence. The story plays in the future after a war in North-Amerika. As some sort of punishment for
the uprising, every year the Hunger games find place. This is a sort of game in which 24 tributes, from
each district 1 boy and 1 girl between the ages 12 and 18, participate in. You can win the Hunger games
by killing everyone else, so only the winner survives and will live wealthy the rest of his/her life. This can
happen in one day or it can take weeks. Katniss Everdeen is a 16 year old girl, she live in district 12
together with her mother and little sister Prim. The day of the draw Prim was chosen to participate.
Katniss can’t handle the thought of her little sister getting killed and she volunteers in her place. The boy
who gets chosen is Peeta Mellark, he’s a nice guy who’s always had a little crush on Katniss. Their family
can say a quick goodbye, but almost immediately Katniss and Peeta get taken away. They’re going to the
capitol. Every year the Hunger games is different, it could be anything; woods, rainforest, desert, ice. The
Games are the biggest event of the year, everyone is stuck at the TV. Katniss had a little advantage, she’s
really good at hunting, she used to hunt animals. And Peeta is really strong and good at camouflaging, so
they both have good chances. But the tributes from district 1 and 2 have been training their whole lives to
participate in the Games, for them it’s for fun. Can Katniss murder the other tributes and will she even kill
Peeta to win? The end may seem predictable, but it’s a little different.
