Introduction
Juan’s case portrays several aspects of the life of an undocumented worker in the
United States of America. The man has health problems and psychological disorders,
homelessness, legal issues, and job-related instability because he is undocumented. To ensure
a comprehensive recommendation of the aftercare plan for Juan and meet his psychosocial
needs during the hospitalization, a culturally appropriate treatment plan has to be developed.
This plan will focus on stabilizing his mental health, treating his substance use disorders,
finding him permanent housing, and linking him with caregivers who will guarantee
continuation of his treatment after discharge.
Treatment Plan
Goal 1: Strengthen Mental Health and Treat Alcohol Use Disorder
Objective 1.1: Juan will receive daily individual counseling while on his hospital stay
to work on the self-medication of depression with alcohol.
Intervention 1.1: Use CBT in an attempt to correct Juan’s unconstructive way of
dealing with his diagnosed depression and other negative feelings.
Objective 1.2: During his hospital stay, Juan will undergo medically managed alcohol
withdrawal.
Intervention 1.2: Consult with the medical staff in the hospital to facilitate Juan's
enrolment into a medical detoxification program to address the withdrawal symptoms
and ensure that he is adequately prescribed for and monitored during the process.
Objective 1.3: While in the hospital, Juan will be brought to the Alcoholics
Anonymous meetings or other group support.
