Initial Setup
’ Check that, Figure 1
Pasco 750 interface is ON.
IMagnetic field sensor is attached to
into the interface analog channel A, itsthe cart and is plugged
is set to AXIAL () and RANGE SELECTRADIAL/AXIAL Switch
Switch is set to 1X.
The current sensor is plugged into the interface analog
channel B.
’ Check that the Helmholtz coil is attached to PVC table using
hole 2. Then, align the coil base to x2 - x2 with connectors on
base facing towards you.
’ Write the coil radius, R, and the number of turns, N, below.
R= O.o6
(m) N= 500

’ Take the straight track and thread it through Coil and then insert the straigàt track's leg LL into sle B
and leg L2 into hole 7.
’ To wire the circuit check that,
One end of the 12" red fused cable is plugged into the right-hand side output connector () on Pasco
Interface and the other end into the current sensor's red terminal.
One end of the 36" orange cable is plugged into the current sensor's black terminal and the other end
into the black connector at the base of the Helmholtz coil.
One end of the 36" black cable is plugged into the left white connector at the base of the Helmholtz coil
and the other end into the left-hand side output connector () on Pasco Interface. Details of the setup are
shown in Figure 1.
’ Next, start the Capstone program and then,
Click on the Hardware Setup icon in the Tools palette. Ifthe750 interface is turned on and is
communicating with the computer, this willbring a clickable picture of the front panel of the 750
interface.
Click on "Analog Channel A" and add the "Magnetic Field Sensor".
Click on "Analog Channel B" and add the "Current sensor".
Now, you can hide the "Hardware Setup" window by clicking on its icon.
