Executive summary

The success of organizations today depends on how well the management defines the

organizational goals. Achieving these goals requires the management to integrate different

departments within the organization to ensure that they are working together to accomplish a

common goal. It accomplishes this through the different management functions namely;

planning, controlling, organizing, leading, and coordinating. Leadership is perhaps the most

crucial function of management. There are different leadership styles that an organization may

choose from. Organizations will choose a style that will be most effective in achieving

organizational goals. However, organizations are often faced with different management issues

that make achieving the organizational goal difficult. Staffing is an issue that is facing Swiss Re

in its attempt to meet organizational goals. Its main issue is the high rate of employee turnover.

Different theories have been developed to deal with any management issues that may be arising.

Swiss Re can adopt the scientific management theory to help solve the issue of high employee

turnover rate. Also, it is a recommendation that it increase its CSR practices to help in retaining

its employees.
