Exam Questions and Answers
*EPQ question and dissertation* --- correct precise answer ---For
my EPQ I completed research and a dissertation on the question "In
what ways have modern genocides shaped their countries' political
systems today and on which aspects of governance have they had
the most significant impact?"
*What was my Project*
- Various political consequences following both Rwandan and
Srebrenica genocides
- Changes at various levels of governance
,- International changes
- National changes
- Regional / local changes
- Evaluated significance --- correct precise answer ---In my project
I looked at the various political consequences which followed both
the modern Rwandan and Srebrenica genocides, and compared the
governance changes made in each.
I looked at international governance changes, including those
involving the UN and separate international justice commissions,
national governance changes, which were implemented
domestically in Rwanda and Bosnia and regional/ local changes,
which looked at more community driven governance changes.
I evaluated the relative significance of these changes, considering
their direct impact on the populations and how these changes have
come to shape the modern-day Rwanda and Bosnia.
*Question Rationale*
- Personal Interest in politics and history
- Decision to look at governance changes
- Pre-existing knowledge --- correct precise answer ---My choice of
this unusual topic area and question initially developed from my
own personal interest in History and politics, which drove me to
choose a dissertation which focused on a political subject.
, The decision to look at governmental consequences of genocide
came from a small understanding of the existing system of
government in Bosnia.
*Question Rationale 2*
- Wanting to compare the two
- Lack of public awareness and importance of genocide education ---
correct precise answer ---Once I began to research into the topic, I
became more interested by the system of government and became
familiar with similarly occurring Rwandan genocide, which made
me want to compare the two.
I was also driven to pick this topic, as I began to grow aware of the
lack of modern genocide awareness and especially in the
consequences of such, and therefore wanted to increase awareness
of the topic. Such awareness is also regarded as important as a tool
of genocide education, which acts to prevent the events.
*Project Aims*
- improved understanding
- A level history target audience
- Personal Aims
- Academic research
