As the operator and owner of my own photography company, I am regularly taking on
new clients for different (projects) or shoots as we call it. They are exciting and profitable, but
they also take a great deal of discipline, planning, and management. My company has been hired

to perform a wedding ceremony, which is one of the most significant undertakings that a
photographer can perform. Upon accepting the job, my initial action is to sit down with the
couple and discuss a budget. I need to know what type of money they intended to spend for a
photographer on their big day, what their expectations of me were, will there be multiple
locations that they wanted to shoot, would they like a video of the ceremony as well, and what
the timeline of the day was.
The couple explained to me that yes, they did want a video, and the type and style of images
captured would be at my company's discretion since they were not sure of what they were
looking for besides the basics, but make sure it was nice and presentable for family memories.
After asking all of the pertinent questions to launch this project and assuring them the images
and video would meet their standard, the couple told me that their budget would be $4,500 with
some wiggle room at the $5,000 mark if needed.The wedding is booked for December 6, 2020,
and there are many things I have to put in motion to prepare.
My company specializes in photography mainly, but I know that the couple has asked for a video
of the wedding and other activities, so that means I will have to reach out to a group of guys that
I subcontract if you will for the videography side of this project. Besides a crew to help shoot
video, I will need a second shooter for the wedding. A project on this scale and scope will be too
much for just me to shoot alone, so hiring a second shooter to take the detailed shots, i.e., Ring
shots, Bride preparation shots,the cake, and other smaller detailed images is going to be a must.
Also, a crew of grip and busboys will be needed to help transport and set up lighting equipment,
stands, and many other modifiers that will be required for the big day. I found a videographer
who agreed to shoot the wedding for $850. This was on the relatively cheaper side of the
