- Attached is a complete summary of Paper 2 Biology Edexcel GCSE! - I received a grade 9 in Biology which I believe is due to these concise notes. You can to! - They are concise, made directly with the specification in mind. They include detailed diagrams, bullet pointed notes, exam tips and specific titles/ sub-titles to make the notes cohesive and easy to read! They include: - Key concepts in Biology - Plant structures and their functions - Homeostasis - Exchange and transport in animals - Ecosystems and material cycles I hope you enjoy these notes, don't hesitate to contact me if you have any queries!!! :) Also, it has come to my attention that when you download these notes from this website, the formatting becomes very strange as they add their own logo etc. I am in the midst of resolving this, however, if it happens for you, please message me and I will e-mail you out a word document where it formatted clearly!

Complete notes for a grade 9

Complete with:

on every point on the
specification

, Plants and their functions

Photosynthesis
 Photosynthetic organisms are main producer of food and have highest biomass as take energy
directly from the sun.
 Plants and algae= photosynthesise= endothermic reaction (use light to react carbon dioxide+
water  glucose+ oxygen).
 Carbon dioxide found in air (into cell by diffusion), water in soil, glucose= sugar (fat store
respiration, cellulose, starch polymers like sucrose), oxygen is by-product.

Limiting Factors

 Limiting factors= low temperature, dim light, low carbon dioxide concentration.
 You can measure effect of light intensity on rate of photosynthesis, see how much oxygen given
off by pondweed. Put light source at different distances = diff light intensities.

 Carbon dioxide is limiting factor as increasing it means the rate of photosynthesis will increase,
however at the end, something else must be the limiting factor as increasing the carbon dioxide
concentration stops effecting the rate of photosynthesis. (Same graph will be produced for light
intensity).
