, Information processing & the synapse
What part of a neurone is involved in synaptic information
What’s the process fo transmission of information across the synapse, including the
summation of a variety of excitatory and inhibitory inputs
What are the functions of different neurotransmitters, drugs and poisons at the synapse
Synaptic transmission
-Synaptic transmission is the transmission of information between neurons from one neuron
to another neuron and allows integration and processing of information
-the synapse allows information to be changed according to other information
-chemical neurotransmitters send signals from one cell in the pathway to the next by crossing
the synapse. They go from the presynaptic cell(before the synapse) to the post synaptic
cell(after the synapse). This gap(synapse) is very narrow so transmission is fast.
