• recall and apply the Clinical Reasoning Cycle to an example context, as well as the case
scenario;
• recall the aetiology, pathophysiology and clinical manifestations of cardiovascular diseas
• apply your understanding of cardiovascular pathophysiology to Tom’s situation and expla
his presenting condition;
• interpret the assessment and laboratory findings to determine why Tom has deteriorated
relate this back to the disease process;
• develop and action nursing goals to manage Tom’s priorities of care;
• evaluate the effectiveness of your nursing goals
• reflect on this experience and apply the concepts you have learned to new situations.
