, INTRODUCTION
This assignment focuses on applying the Integrated Social Work Process (ISWP) to a
complex case involving an adolescent’s drug addiction, family distress, unemployment,
and community-level challenges. The assignment is divided into two parts: firstly, the
application of the seven consecutive ISWP stages to the presented case, and secondly,
an explanation of how the integrated social work approach can be implemented across
case, group, and community methods with the involvement of other professionals.

I would meet the mother and adolescent to establish rapport, trust, and clarify the
role of social work.
A safe space would be provided for the mother to express her concerns while
reassuring confidentiality (Zastrow & Kirst-Ashman, 2021).
Initial assessment of urgency: substance abuse, aggression, and health
concerns highlight high-risk issues.
Stage 2: Assessment
Holistic assessment of the adolescent’s addiction, gang involvement, and
behavioural patterns.
Assessment of the mother’s stress, unemployment, recovering addiction, and
chronic illnesses.
