ACTIVITY 1
1.1 Name two ways toddlers develop their musical skills
according to researchers. (2)
1. Toddlers develop musical skills through listening and
imitation, for example by copying rhythms, melodies, or
sounds they hear from adults, songs, or the environment.
2. They also develop musical skills through movement and
play, such as clapping hands, banging drums, dancing,
and experimenting with sounds to explore rhythm and
pitch.


1.2 Evaluation of Music (6)
Discuss how music can support the development of other
learning areas such as numeracy and literacy, in the
Foundation Phase. Provide examples from your teaching
experience or observations.
