Write an introduction of approximately 5 sentences (150-200 words) in which
you reflect on a book that you have read and explain how it has impacted your
life.
One book that left a deep impression on me is Long Walk to Freedom by Nelson
Mandela. I chose to read this autobiography because I was curious to understand
the personal journey of a man who played a powerful role in shaping South
Africa’s democracy. Mandela is a global icon, but I wanted to know the human
side of his story—how he became the leader who inspired millions. From the very
first page, I was drawn into Mandela’s humble beginnings in the rural village of
Qunu, his strong values shaped by tradition, and his deep love for justice and
equality. What intrigued me most was his ability to remain hopeful, calm, and
forgiving even in the face of great suffering and injustice. Spending 27 years in
prison would break most people, but Mandela used that time to reflect, grow,
and prepare for a better future. His story showed me that true strength is not
loud or angry—it is quiet, patient, and full of compassion. This book taught me
that real change takes time and sacrifice. It inspired me to face my own
challenges with courage and a sense of purpose. Mandela’s journey reminded me
that even one person can make a difference if they stay true to their values.
