Asset Management Interview

Tell Me About Yourself - answer I’m from Chicago, and high school Maryland, where I
got exposed to finance my junior year through a Finance Academy. We actually did a
personal finance challenge, and won which is part of the reason I chose my major. After
high school school I was looking for a school that would really challenge me and
prepare me for the field, so I went to Wharton. I wanted to challenge myself further, so I
majored in finance, statistics, and math.

Outside of my classes, I'm always trying to make Penn a little better than I found it, so
I'm the Political Chair of UMOJA, I work on the Nominations and Elections Committee,
I'm in a public service sorority, and I'm a research assistant for the Political Science
Department.

When my head is not stuck in JMP, or R, or a spreadsheet, I'm really passionate about
voter registration, the Chicago Bulls are my heart, I geeked out over the Olympics pretty
hard, and I like to cook.

Why Global Wealth Management - answer-Personal finance competition was really
enlightening to me. I remember wondering what happened to people if they didn't know
what type of life insurance they should get or if they accounted for the gift tax, so I
always kept in the back of my mind

-I really like that I have the opportunity to guide clients to financial health and really help
someone and see the direct impact I'm making on someone's life. Maybe you also do
that in Investment management but it's not as direct, you can't see the people who the
pension belong to. Like even in my day to day life, I see myself as the problem solver. In
UMOJA, I deal with different types of people and have really learned to tailor my
solutions and delivery to who I'm talking to.

- More creativity. Alot of times in Investment Management, it seems like the client
comes to you with a general knowledge of what they want and you have to tailor your
ideas to what they already want. In GWM you get more leeway to pick something that
the client never even knew was a possibility, but still fits within their goals.
.

Why JP Morgan - answerThree reasons:
1. CEO always says a lot about the company and I think Jamie Dimon. He's someone
who's consistently demonstrated that he values both teamwork and diversity. I also think
he really care about his employees. I think he impart a positive culture of respecting
people at all levels of the company an that's something I really admire.

, 2. A lot of for the same reason I chose Penn. A top bank like JP attracts the smartest
and most hardworking people who are interested in protecting the brand. At Wharton
everyone works really hard not just for themselves, but because we want to maintain
the standard of Wharton excellence

3. Everyone I met from JP has been really helpful in helping me decide what part of JP
is best for me. Everyone seems really down to earth, really smart, really open to
working with each other to deliver the best possible deliverables.

Strengths - answer- Super analytical
-good at problem solving
-great leader who is perceptive about my teams strength and weaknesses
-more determined than anyone else, when I want something, god help those who get in
my way
-Organized
- Good at failure, even the best investors have like a 40% success rate so learning from
failures is important

Weaknesses - answer-used to be bad at delegating tasks, being at Penn has helped we
with that. all my team members have been so passionate, so hardworking, there's no
reason not to trust them
- too many interests-sometimes I spread myself too thin and find it difficult to say no to
things. Also have been working on limiting my commitments

Where do you want to be in five years? - answer-Working toward getting an MBA and
looking at B-schools to help me be better at wealth management
-Working with clients and helping them with their financial issues.

why wealth management not asset management - answer-Wealth management lets me
help people more directly
-Wealth management has often been described to me as the family CFO, it's a lot more
about personal finance and not just what's the best investment you should be making.

What makes you a leader? - answerI'm persuasive and strategic. I think I'm good at
helping groups organize their thoughts, lay out the options we have, and choose the
most strategic one. I think I'm also good at gathering the information each team member
has in an efficient manner and then using that to make a good decision.

Name an instance in your past jobs that shows your customer service skills. -
answerLaw firm, I got people through divorces

What can you add that no one else can - answerI'm best in crisis mode (2 prong):
-The law firm I worked at this summer did a lot of divorce work. People come in and
they're distraught, enduring emotional turmoil. I've been able to interact with clients and
learn how to deliver tough information to them when they're at their most emotionally
vulnerable.
