My signature entered below constitutes my pledge that all the writing in this document is my
own work, except for those portions which are properly documented and cited. I understand and
accept the following definition of plagiarism:
1. Plagiarism includes the literal repetition without acknowledgment of the writings of
another author. All significant phrases, clauses, or passages in this paper which have

acknowledged in the text itself as well as on the Reference page.
2. Plagiarism includes borrowing another’s ideas and representing them as my own.
3. To paraphrase the thoughts of another writer without acknowledgement is plagiarism.
4. Plagiarism also includes inadequate paraphrasing. Paraphrased passages (those put into

5. Plagiarism includes using another person or organization to prepare this paper and then
submitting it as my own work.
6. Plagiarism includes resubmitting my own previous work, in whole, or in part for a current

that if plagiarism is detected in my paper, my professor will follow the procedures for academic
dishonesty set forth by Saint Leo University, the Donald R. Tapia College of Business and the

Question 1: What are the three critical aspects of corporate organization? Which of the
three components is most important for the success of a firm?

According to Brickley et al. (2021), the three critical aspects of corporate organization are the
assignment of decision rights within a company, the methods of rewarding individuals, and the
performance evaluation systems within the company. It is a key factor that these components
work together in order to create an organizational structure that guides how effective decisions
are made, how employees are motivated, and how performance is measured within the
company.

Giving people the right to make decisions means sharing the power to choose and take
responsibility across the company. This part decides who can make certain choices and at what
level these decisions are made. Effective assignment of decision rights ensures that the right
people are making the right decisions, and they also have the skills to make these effective
decisions; this helps empower companies to make smarter and quicker choices.

The reward system encompasses the many ways companies use to pay and motivate their
employees. This can include money but also rewards like recognition, awards, promotions, and
other perks. The businesses set up an effective reward system that allows their employees to
strive for the same goals as the company and benefits not only the employees but also the
organization.

The performance evaluation system measures and assesses employee and organizational
performance. This component helps the organization track their employees’ progress, find areas
of improvement, and make smart decisions about promotions, pay, and other incentives. A well-
established performance evaluation system holds employees responsible for their work and
allows the organization to check its progress toward its long-term goals.

All three of these components are important for a well-run organization, but the assignment of
decision rights might be the most crucial for a company's long-term success. This is because how
decision-making power is shared ultimately shapes how an organization works and responds to
the challenges and opportunities it faces. Additionally, how decision rights are shared also lays
the groundwork for the other two components to work successfully. If the company wants its
reward system and performance evaluation system to work properly, it will all depend on how
decision-making power is spread out throughout the company.

In conclusion, the three key aspects of corporate organization are the assignment of decision
rights, the reward system, and the performance evaluation system and they are all key aspects for
any company’s long term success but the assignment of decision rights stands out as the most
crucial. Decision rights lay the foundation of how a company can operate effectively and have an
impact on everything from big-picture planning to everyday tasks.
