QUESTION 1: Visual Arts Activity Design (30 Marks)
1.1 Describe your Visual Arts activity (8 marks)
For this lesson, learners will create "Eco-Animals" using recycled cardboard and
paper. The aim is for Grade 5 learners to create animal artworks by cutting and shaping
old cereal boxes and drawing details with pencils and crayons.
To start the 30-minute session, I will introduce the topic by showing a simple animal
made out of cardboard and explaining how animals are part of our environment.
Learners will then choose their favourite animal, sketch it on recycled cardboard using a
pencil, cut it out (if scissors are available, otherwise we’ll tear neatly), and add colour
using crayons.
Learners will learn how to use basic materials in creative ways, understand how to show
shape and detail, and explore environmental awareness by turning waste into art. The
activity encourages them to think creatively and feel proud of their creations, even
without fancy materials. The lesson includes:
5 minutes: Introduction and demonstration
20 minutes: Learners working on their animals
