ASSIGNMENT 3
Due Date 14 July 2025
, Question 1: Case Study – Rural School Context (15 Marks)
1.a. Introducing the Value and Purpose of PE to Learners and Staff (4 Marks)
To introduce the value and purpose of PE in a rural school, I would begin with a joint
session for learners and staff. The goal would be to show that PE is not just about
playing games, but a vital component of holistic education that improves physical,
emotional, social, and cognitive well-being.
I would explain that PE improves concentration, mental health, teamwork, and
discipline, drawing from Study Unit 1.
For learners, interactive discussions and activities would make the benefits
tangible.
For staff, I would present research from Study Unit 2 showing how PE
contributes to academic performance and health, especially in rural settings
where recreational facilities are limited.
Finally, I would connect PE to the CAPS Life Orientation outcomes, to show its
curricular value and gain institutional support.
1.b. Outline of a First Term PE Programme Considering Constraints (6 Marks)
Week 1-2: Orientation and Safety
