Circulatory system (Blood flow)
Plays an important role to:
® Brings nutrients and oxygen to cells
® Removes waste products
Blood
Blood is living tissue that circulates through the body. It transports oxygen, nutrients,
hormones and waste
Blood is made from
1. Plasma
2. Red blood cells (corpuscles) Erythrocytes
3. White blood cells
4. Platelets
Plasma
Liquid part of blood. It’s mainly water and transports nutrients, waste, products and gases
in dissolved form.
Red Blood Cells
Dis-shaped cells. Formed in bone marrow and large in size and flexible and have no
nucleus. Transports oxygen from lungs to rest of body.
White blood cells
Larger than red cells but fewer in number. Protect the body against infection and disease-
fight germs.
Platelets
Smallest particle in blood. Produced in bone marrow. Important in the role of blood
clotting
4 different types of blood groups A; B; AB; O
