1 I would choose secondary and tertiary for my shipping methods. All mandolins are
shipped in bulk. Secondary would be used for higher-end mandolins. This will provide better
protection for the most valuable mandolins. It will also allow me to track and get them there
faster. Shipping the cheaper models using tertiary methods would help get a larger volume of
mandolins to their destinations at a cheaper cost. Even though the chance of damage will be
higher.
2 The highest risk factors would be humidity and mishandling during packing. Humidity
will be the most significant factor.to help mitigate this issue, we plan to add some dehumidifiers
in all storage areas, and silica gel packets will be placed in each mandolin to absorb any residual
moisture that may be there. To help reduce possible damage during packing, I will require
packing material for each item. I will also require only one mandolin to be handled during
packing. To be more specific not trying to pact two at a time.
3 I will use trucking and air travel to ship my mandolin. Air travel will help eliminate the
possibility of damage from moisture. It will also speed up delivery and reduce delays. There are
a few disadvantages. One of them is cost. It will cost more, but if I only use this for overseas it
will help those costs. Trucking will be best for use with final delivery. It will help reduce damage
from handling as once it is put on a truck, it will not be removed until its destination. A
disadvantage is damage from traffic accidents and rough roads.
4 Transport management systems will be crucial in the distribution of my products. I will
use it to track my shipments and give my customers tracking info. It will be able to project
the costs of different shipping methods. I will also be able to decide the most efficient
transportation method for the number of mandolins being shipped. I will also be able to use the
shipping company's insurance to help mitigate any cost due to shipping damages.
