General Child Neglect - ANS Negligent failure of a person having the care or custody of a
child to provide adequate food, clothing, shelter, medical care, or supervision where no
physical injury to the child has occured
Unlawful Corporal Punishment or Injury - ANS Situation where nay person willfully inflicts
upon any child any cruel or inhuman corporal punishment or injury resulting in a traumatic
condition.
Licensing Agency - ANS State Department of Social Services office responsible for the
licensing and enforcement of the California Community Care Facilities Act, the California Child
Day Care Act, or the county licensing agency which has contracted with the state for
performance of those duties
Unfounded Report - ANS A report that is determined by the investigator who conducted the
investigation to be false, to be inherently improbable, to involve an accidental injury, or not to
constitute child abuse or neglect
Substantiated Report - ANS Report that is determined by the investigator to constitute child
abuse or neglect based upon evidence has occurred
Inconclusive Report - ANS Report that is determined by the investigator that the findings are
inconclusive and there is insufficient evidence to determine whether child abuse or neglect.
