. 2.1 Adults learn differently form children. Explain adult learning in your own
words. (5)
2.1 Adult Learning in My Own Words:
Adults learn differently from children because they bring their own life experiences,
responsibilities, and goals into the learning process. Unlike children, who often learn because
they are told to or because it's part of their development, adults usually choose to learn for a
specific reason—such as gaining skills for work, solving real-life problems, or achieving
personal goals.
Adults prefer practical and relevant learning that they can apply immediately. They like to be
involved in the learning process, and they learn best when the content connects to their own
experiences. They also tend to be more self-directed, meaning they like to take responsibility for
their learning and work at their own pace.
In short, adult learning is more focused, purposeful, and experience-based compared to the way
children learn.
Adult learning, often referred to as andragogy, is distinct from child learning (pedagogy)
primarily because adults bring a wealth of life experience, self-direction, and a clear sense of
purpose to the learning process.
In my own words, adult learning is about empowering individuals to connect new information
with their existing knowledge and experiences, driven by their intrinsic motivation and a
desire to solve real-world problems.
