Hello everyone,
My name is Keyan and I am currently a kitchen manager in a
local chain. Both professional and personal success to me
includes financial standing (naturally), flexibility and how you
take care of others. Personally, I have a small family to look
out for, so every action I take determines whether or not we
as a group are okay. Professionally, I think organizations
should take care of their staff and vendors at all levels, as it
boosts confidence in the company and builds loyalty. I am a
firm believer in taking care of the employees first, following
the service-profit-chain, in turn creating an environment
where my employees automatically take care of the customer
at a higher level (Heskett et al., 2016).
General Electric is an organization I would deem successful.
The company is split into three different fields of business (GE
Aerospace, Vernova & Healthcare respectively). I live only a
few miles away from one of the aerospace locations and they
are certainly a company I find myself looking at on LinkedIn
often. Financially, GE had a 21.7 billion USD profit and
approximately 3 billion USD in "free cash flow" (Winoker,
2024). Across the board, GE was up when compared to the
previous year in orders, profit margin, etc.
For the personnel, competitive pay is offered. In my area
alone, the hourly rate of some entry level positions is between
60 - 70k depending on the shift worked. Additionally, they
offer several raises throughout the year based on
performance. Money aside, the company offers a health care
package that varies by location; some regions do not deduct
these benefits from paychecks while others do. GE also offers
continuous professional development courses, tuition
reimbursement, specific benefits for parents and more (GE,
2024). In terms of taking care of the staff, GE is one of the
leaders in this category.
