Self-Reflection Essay
Have you taken a course that has improve your way of communication? The Information
Literacy course at Grand Canyon University has provided me with the knowledge and
experience to be able to effectively communicate as a preschool teacher. From writing outlines
to drafting an expository essay has given me the skills to write and prepare a proper essay. I can
apply knowledge, recognize areas of strength, and explore areas of opportunity to communicate
effectively in my field of study, Early childhood development.
Apply Knowledge
I can apply the knowledge learned in this course towards effective communication within
my field of study by actively listening and talking with students, parents, and coworkers. I can
brainstorm ideas and free write before I actually convey a message to someone. Engaging in
meaningful conversations and directing communication between student and teacher can help
form relationships. As a teacher, I can offer flexible hours for student and parental help. I can
send out weekly newsletters, emails, and texts to keep the line of communication open with
parents. Communication can be used effectively when teaching preschool children from ages
