Dozens killed as fire breaks out at ski resort hotel in northwestern Turkey
A Fire broke out on the fourth floor at the Grand Kartal Hotel located in Bolu province,
turkey, on January 21, 2025, at 3:27 am. This fire spread quickly through the 12-story building
and resulted in the deaths of 76 people and injured 51 others. The hotel consisted of 161 rooms
and was hosting 238 guests around the time of the fire. It was difficult for them to put out the fire
due to the challenges of the location, placement, and freezing temperatures of the hotel, because
of these obstacles authorities deployed 267 emergency responders, 30 fire trucks, and 28
ambulances. Witnesses have reported that the fire detection in the building did not go off during
the incident and there is currently an ongoing investigation for this incident and six prosecutors
were assigned to the case, at this moment nine people including the hotel owner were arrested in
connection of the incident. The authorities are working to determine if the hotel's fire safety
