Grand Canyon University PSY 550:
Research Methods
Introduction
As video games become an ever-increasing pat time in the United States, the controversy
as to whether they cause in increase in aggression grows as well. Researchers are divided in their
studies to prove or disprove a relationship between time spent playing video games and an
increase in aggressive behaviors (Addo et al, 2021). The purpose of this correlational study is to
determine the relationship between the amount of time spent playing video games and the level
of aggression experienced by those individuals. The two variables in this correlational study are:
Time spent playing video games: This variable will be measured in hours and will be
considered the independent variable of this correlational study.
Aggression: This variable will be measured using a standardized aggression scale and
will be considered the dependent variable in this correlational study.
