Introduction
EmpowerWear is a mental health wearable device and app, that allows for the consumers to track
their mental health by tracking various physiological data, behavioral data, and other data (mood
and emotions). Mental health is a growing crisis worldwide with statistics showing that 59.3
million adults lived with any mental illness, higher percentages in women compared to men. It is
estimated that 49.5 million adolescents had a mental illness as well (National Institute of Mental
Health [NIMH], 2024). The value of having a wearable device that monitors mental health would
help customers track their data and share with their doctors. This could help prevent severe
mental illnesses and keep customers safe, as well as provide them with hope.
Value Proposition
An innovative wearable mental health device offers continuous, unobtrusive monitoring and
personalized insights to help individuals and healthcare providers proactively manage mental
, health, potentially resulting in earlier intervention and improved outcomes (Gomes, et al., 2023).
To manage this key element, EmpowerWear should focus on:
Data quality- the variability of sensors
Balanced estimations- not overestimating or overpredicting
Health equity- digital and technology divides, unequal access to benefits
Fairness- not excluding the general population and unfair datasets (Canali, et al., 2022).
