Code of Conduct Reflection
One example of the academic integrity violation “presenting work that has been prepared
by someone or something other than the student, including the purchase and sharing of work.”
can be a student at GCU receiving assignments or coursework that is already done or prepared by
someone else and in return giving them currency. A code of conduct violation “Behaving in any
manner that creates a disruption, or a hostile or offensive educational environment for a student,
faculty member, or staff member.” example can be making an inappropriate offensive comment
to another classmate or staff member. These standards are in place for safety, learning, and
excelling as students. Presenting work prepared by someone else other than yourself is just
cheating yourself out of an education. This violation is in place for us as students to be able top
actually learn and excel. The code of conduct violation helps protect the staff, the students, and
other faculty members against harsh and defensive comments that may be verbal abuse or hateful
comments.
Plagiarism
Plagiarism to me is copying word for word any form of coursework, statements, text in
any and all formats and claiming it as yours or that you wrote it. Example, “If Johnny has 8
apples and Sarah takes 3 from him, why didn’t Johnny tell his teacher?” and another student
writes/texts/types the same question word for word, which is plagiarism. I think students
plagiarize because they don’t know how to do their coursework or have no motivation to be
