The relationship April and Judi had with their respective adoptive parents is a major
psychological factor that influenced the development of the twins. April was supported by her
parents; they encouraged her to pursue her interests and provided April with positive
reinforcement and emotional support. Judi, however, was adopted into an unpredictable, chaotic
environment that did not provide her with the emotional support that April was given.
Compare the social factors that have influenced both April’s and Judi’s development.
One influence of social factors on the twins’ development can be seen in their adult relationships.
April maintains “productive and healthy relationships” within her personal and professional life.
This can be attributed to being brought up in an environment that modeled healthy relationship
dynamics. Because April can maintain healthy relationships, she is given an advantage regarding
her romantic, professional, and personal relationships. Opposite to that, Judi’s relationships in
her adult life reflect the dysfunctional and unhealthy relationships that Judi was exposed to in her
