The activity of promoting one's services to members of the general public or any segment of the
public eg. public appearances, press releases, directory listings etc.

medium to promote a member's professional services, goods, practice or image.




What are the 4 tests for defining a Steering relationship?

1) there must be a system (ie structured agreement/ongoing activity or pattern of behaviour)
2) the system must result in clients being directed to a particular vet/vet practice for
professional/ancillary service
3) the vet must knowingly participate in the system in some way
4) there is either a conferral fo some benefit to the referrer OR a restriction on which vets may
participate in the system (beyond reasonable restrictions eg locations/specializations or scope
of practice)

What is Informed Consent?

The process by which the client learns about and understands the purpose, benefits and
potential risks of all recommended activities and uses this information to make decisions
concerning their animal's care.
