PCA Interview Questions With Correct Answers What are your career goals? -Correct Answer-I'm currently taking a semester off from school to work, but ultimetely I want to go back to get my BSN. What was your most difficult situation in the past during a customer service experience? -Correct Answer-I would say my most difficult customer service experience would be when I was at Tolles working as a student ambassador for the school, I would occasionally have future possible clientele that would never talk or start the conversation so within this awkward silence I had to be the one to jump in and start them talking and break that barrier. What would you do if your patient didn't want you in his/her room? -Correct Answer-I would start by apologizing for interrupting and explain that I would be back in about 15 minutes to check on them again. Once I left I would make sure to tell the nurse. What are your roles and responsibilities as a PCA? -Correct Answer-The basics like taking vital signs and watching for any abnormalities within my patients baseline, as well as helping my patients with their ADLs. It's also important to offer emotional and moral support to my patients. As a PCA I also bridge to the nurse and the care team. Why did you choose The James? -Correct Answer-I chose The James because of the work culture, and the patients we see offer a great learning environment for my skills as well as emotionally. How do you feel that you can make a patients stay at our hospital better? -Correct Answer-I think it's important to recognize each individual patients fears and worries about being in the hospital. Tell us about yourself. -Correct Answer-My name is Veronica Lukie, I went to West Jefferson High School as well as Tolles Career & Technical Center during my Junior and Senior year where I studied in pre-nursing. After high school, I moved out of West Jeff and moved to the Columbus area. I found my passion for the medical field at a very young age when my grandmother was hospitalized often for various medical problems, one actually being cancer. From there, I knew that nursing was where I wanted to be. Tell us about a time you went above and beyond in a work place. -Correct Answer-Well as you can see by my resume I've done a lot of extra stuff. But I would say what I'm most proud of because of my above and beyond work would be the Red Cross blood drives. My school hosted three every year, and in the two years I was there I assisted in five of them. I worked hard in the clerical side of it, as well as going out and being the one to push for donors. With the help of my hard work and of course the donors, we had the ability to save hundreds of lives over those two years and I'm extremely proud of that. What are three things you would always do before exiting a patients room? -Correct Answer-The three things I would always do before exiting a patients room are wash my hands, make sure the call light is within reach and the patients knows it is there, and close the door behind me in order to provide for privacy. Can you take manual blood pressure? Please explain what the top and bottom numbers are -Correct Answer-Yes I do know how to take manual blood pressure. The top number, systole, is the measure of pressure in the arteries during the contraction of the heart, and the bottom number, diastole, is the pressure when the heart is relaxed. Why do you want to work in a hospital? -Correct Answer-When I got my STNA, I was going to work at a LTCF. But after I did my clinical and saw how it was, I really decided I wanted to work in a hospital because of the fast pace. I do better with more stuff going on around me. What is your greatest weakness? -Correct Answer-My greatest weakness is my lack of ability to say no to people. I tend to take on a lot of things and get myself a bit overwhelmed because I will always say yes, but I still will always be sure to complete every task to the best of my ability.
