Unit 8 - Assignment 1
The Recruitment and Selection Process
Daniel Vroy

Evaluate the recruitment processes used and how
they contribute to the success of the selected
business.

Introduction

In this document I will evaluate the recruitment processes used and how they
contribute to the success of Asda.

Job agencies

In order for a business to be successful, its recruitment process must be effective.
Asda’s recruitment process allows them to be able to recruit candidates that fit the
position.

Agencies are what company’s use to recruit employees. This is good as the
company will not go through the stress of going through hundreds of CV’s being
submitted to them by different applicants. What the recruitment agencies do is,
match applicants with the various vacancies that are currently available at different
companies. Agency staff can also be employed on demand for times Asda needs
staff on busy days when permanent staff are absent. The advantages of this is that
the company will get applicants with a wider range of skills and experience which will
give the business new ideas. A disadvantage is that using recruitment agencies is
more expensive for recruitment through advertising, arranging interviews and paying
the agency itself.

This method will contribute to Asda’s success because recruitment helps divide
applications into categories of under qualified and overqualified. This helps
streamline the process, making it easier to shortlist people who would be perfect for
the job and would help Asda grow, therefore making it successful.

Another strength of this method which will contribute to Asda’s success is because
the people who are in charge of the business can focus on ensuring products are
made of the company's highest standards, think of new innovative ideas/products
and trying to beat competitors to be the market leader, instead of worrying about who
is going to fill a position / role in the job. An agency will look for candidates who will
be accepted by the business based on their skills and qualifications and this will
contribute to the success of Asda because better company performance is the result
of effective recruitment processes and when the best employees are hired and kept,
the quality of products and services as well as financial success improves.
