2.1 Creative Design (PTY) LTD has a series of problems that need to be addressed.
What is the required commitment of quality in all functions to establish quality and to

(6)

To establish quality and improve business performance at Creative Design (PTY) LTD,
a strong commitment to quality in all functions is required, driven by top
management. This means that quality should not be restricted to production or
operations but must be an inseparable aspect of every employee’s performance
and responsibility (Inglesi-Lotz, 2023).

Required Commitment to Quality in All Functions:

Organization-wide quality improvement requires all members to work together
at every interface. The internal customer/supplier relationships forming the quality
chains are the core of company-wide quality improvement and must be managed
effectively (Daskalopoulou, 2022).

Top management must be truly committed and embed quality into the fabric of the
business. Their commitment provides the necessary buy-in, resources, and
sponsorship for quality and operational excellence (Q&OpEx).

Management should be dedicated to the regular improvement of quality, not just a
one-time fix. They need to create values, goals, and systems that guide the sustained
pursuit of quality and performance objectives (Inglesi-Lotz, 2023).

Everyone must cooperate at every interface to achieve improvements in
performance. This requires breaking down inter-departmental barriers, as most
problems are inter-departmental, not solely functional.

Management should enable all employees to participate in the preparation,
implementation, and evaluation of improvement activities to involve everyone in quality
improvement.

Quality needs to be designed into the whole system, not inspected at the end.
Reliance on exhorting the workforce to do the right job right the first time without
addressing systemic issues will likely fail and may create division (Jude & Levieuge,
2017).

A quality policy needs to be defined and published, with full commitment from senior
management to ensure it is communicated, understood, implemented, and maintained
at all levels. Project quality plans must reflect this policy.

Quality directors or managers should be appointed to plan and implement Total Quality
Management (TQM), reporting directly to the chief executive. They need to promote
partnerships and relationships with customers and suppliers (Le & Ozturk, 2020).

How Creative Design Can Become Effective by Establishing Quality:

By establishing quality across all functions, Creative Design can address its current
problems and increase business performance in several ways:

Reduced Customer Returns and Improved Satisfaction: Focusing on quality of
design and conformance to design will directly address the issues of loose shelves,
doors not closing, and loose edges in their TV cabinets. Meeting customer
requirements consistently leads to customer loyalty and a reputation for excellence.
