It functions as a knowledge-intensive business cluster, fostering collaboration among startups and
offering access to shared resources and expertise. Through its Maxum Business Incubator, it
supported Expertron in launching Cell-ID and forming key partnerships like with Grintek. The Hub

to help commercialise innovations. Overall, it plays a vital role in South Africa’s national innovation
ecosystem.

development and success of its flagship product, Cell-ID. The incubator provided essential technical,
managerial, and training support that helped transform Expertron’s innovative ideas into viable
commercial products. Additionally, the Hub facilitated a strategic partnership with Grintek, a major
player in the defense and telecommunications sectors, which offered Expertron access to industry
expertise, new markets, and valuable resources that would have been difficult to secure
independently.
