send unsolicited commercial email

CAN-SPAM Act - ANS-Applies to any commercial electronic mail messages, prohibits use of
false return address or false info
No dictionary attacks - send messages to random emails
No harvesting - use special software to get emails
No sending emails to randomly generated email lists
Are unsolicited commercial emails allows under the spam acts? - ANS-Yes, it can be unsolicited
as long as it was not sent out to a mass email list generated randomly
US Safe Web Act - ANS-Allows FTC to cooperate and share information with foreign agencies
in investigating spam
Also provides a safe harbor for Internet Service Providers (ISPs)
Are ISP's usually liable for copyright of users? - ANS-No, internet service providers are not
Domain Names - ANS-An internet address (ie "Cengage.com")

Good will - ANS-valuable reputation of a business (intangible asset)
ICANN - ANS-is non-profit distribution system of domain names

to profit from a competitor's goodwill
Cybersquatting - ANS-When a person registers a domain name that is similar or confusingly
similar to the trademark of another and then offers to sell the domain name back to the
trademark owner
