What, according to you, were the reasons for Rohit’s disillusionment?


Disillusionment in organizational behavior implies a feeling of discontentment when an

employee discovers that a certain aspect is unfavorable in the workplace that leads to

demotivation (Gutmann et al. 18). According to my perspective, Rohit’s disillusionment is

attributed to his high confidence in the new company. Upon his appointment, he was very

optimistic and aspired to introduce innovative concepts. Hence, he joined Apex Computer

Company anticipating to get an opportunity to enhance better performance, as he was used to in

the initial workplace. However, the new manager is uncooperative and dislikes employee

involvement. Workers are expected to do specific tasks and avoid interfering with decision

making roles. Therefore, I believe that the major reason for Rohit’s disillusionment is the lack of

appreciation and motivation.


Where does the disillusionment fit using Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs?


Rohit’s disillusionment suits the third stage of Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs. According

to the hierarchy, the third stage is social and involves a sense of belongingness (McGuire, Kevin

& Maslow 11). In the level, the effectiveness of interpersonal associations motivates an

individual's characters in the workplace. Upon joining the new company, Rohit was

physiologically contented, secure, and presumably emotionally stable, and was targeting to enter
