DESCRIBE HOW TO MANAGE REACTIONS ARISING FROM A TRAUMATIC EVENT

1.Think about a situation in your own life that was traumatic for you or situations that you would find
traumatic. (Page 7)

Our home was broken into while our three children were asleep. My husband and I were tied up and left
in a corner while the three-armed robbers proceeded to ransack our home. My husband was hit a few
times by one of the more violent robbers. This event was traumatic and it took a long time for us to heal.

Situations that I would find to be traumatic is if they had woken my kids and done something to them. I
or my girls could have been raped. We could have been shot and left for dead. All of these could have
happened and I find it to be traumatic situations. Other situations I would find traumatizing is a violent
crash, losing someone I love unexpectedly, home invasions, and violent attacks (at home or while out)

2.Using a mind map, list examples of the different kinds of traumatic events you can think of. (Page 7)
