Introduction

The standards for nursing practice in delivering safe and efficient patient care are

expected to be led by nursing leadership and management. Though nurses have and still been

challenged in the healthcare system with the everyday changes (Whitney, 2022). This could be

due to so many reasons such as health care reform, decrease funding, and a growing number of

patients to serve. Thus, the need for strong nurse leaders and managers cannot be underestimated

to meet challenges (Whitney, 2022). According to the Affordable Care Act, as the nation

continues to adjust to health care changes, nurse leaders must advocate for their patients and

influence change in the health care system (Whitney, 2022). Yet different issues still arise in

nursing that affect the practice in various ways. For example, work ethics, professional growth,

work environment, patient population and their families. Remember as nurses our productivity is

connected to leadership, management and work environment or atmosphere. If this is not

realized, most nurses to be moving around or searching to get work satisfaction to portray their

potential (Whitney, 2022). This paper will review and examine the issues in the nursing practice,

solutions to address the issues, leadership and management styles to address those issues with

comparison to personal leadership styles and the roles of nurses within the interdisciplinary

teams.

Nursing Turnover in the Practice

According to Wu et al., (2024), nurse turnover could be defined as the process of nurses

transferring from one unit to another in an organization or the rate at which nurses leave their

current positions or the nursing profession altogether in a specified period. Many factors could

lead to nurse turnover that may influence turnover behavior. Such as turnover younger age,
