Application Software - ANS-Also called productivity software; helps you perform a
specific task such as word processing or performing calculations on spreadsheets.
Bundleware - ANS-Software included with the purchase of a new computer.
Database - ANS-A collection of related information organized for rapid search and
retrieval.
Field - ANS-In Access, a single piece of database information, such as a first name, a
last name, or a telephone number; in Word, an indication of a location in which variable
text or data can be inserted and is combined in a column.
Multimedia - ANS-The use of text, graphics, audio, and video in some combination to
create an effective means of communication and interaction.
Network License - ANS-A type of license that gives the organization the right to install a
program on a server which can be accessed by a specific number of computers.
Object Linking And Embedding (OLE) - ANS-A technology developed by Microsoft that
lets you create a document or object in one program and then link and/or embed that
data into another program.
Operating System (OS) - ANS-System software that provides an interface between the
user or application program and the computer hardware.
Patch (fix, update, service pack) - ANS-Software applied over software that you already
have installed to correct errors.
Presentation Software - ANS-Software that is used to create and edit information to
present in an electronic slide show format.
Primary Key - ANS-Unique identifier of each record in an Access table.
Record - ANS-A group of related fields in a database, such as all the contact
information for an individual, and is combined in a row.
Single-User License - ANS-A license that gives you the right to install software on a
single computer.
Software - ANS-Intangible set of instructions that tells the computer what to do.
Software As A Service (Saas) - ANS-A software delivery method where an application is
licensed for use as a service. The software is provided to customers on demand
through the Internet, an intranet, or through a network.
Software License - ANS-A license that gives you permission to use a program.
Spreadsheet - ANS-A grid of rows and columns into which you enter text data (i.e.,
surnames, cities, states) and numerical data (i.e., dates, currency, and percentages).
System Software - ANS-A group of programs that coordinate and control the resources
and operations of a computer system.
Upgrade - ANS-Replacing software with a newer or better version to bring the system
up to date or to improve its characteristics.
