Answer:
a. Describe one source of big data that you are likely to use in your future advanced
practice nursing role.
An example of a significant source of big data that I am likely to utilize in the future advanced
practice nursing role is electronic health records (EHRs). An EHR is a digital system utilized and
managed by healthcare institutions to gather and retain patients' clinical data. An EHR
encompasses various essential features, such as the collection of health data, management of
prescriptions and outcomes, provision of medical decision support, interchange of medical data,
digital interaction, patient assistance, administrative procedures, and population health reporting
(Mahendher, 2020).
b. Identify the types of information that can be obtained from this source.
EHRs are utilized in both clinical treatment and healthcare management to collect diverse
medical data from patients over a period of time, while also overseeing clinical procedures.
EHRs consist of several patient-level factors, including demographic information, diagnoses,
issue lists, prescriptions, symptoms, and laboratory test results (Mahendher, 2020).
c. Examine three ways data from this source can be used to impact client care.
