Bisacodyl Fumarate ✔✔Selectively blocks cardiac adrenoceptors, reducing resting
and exercise HR, decreasing cardiac output, depressing renin secretion, and
decreasing tonic sympathetic outflow from the vasomotor centres in the brain.
Captopril ✔✔Inhibits ACE, preventing conversions of angiotensin 1 to angiotensin
2, a potent vasocontrictor. Less angiotensin 2 decreases peripheral arterial
resistance, decreasing aldosterone secretion, which reduces sodium and water
retention and lowers BP.
Carbidopa-levodopa (Sinemet) ✔✔Converted to dopamine via the action of
naturally occurring enzyme called DOPA decarboxylase. Improves symptoms of
