, How to obtain TJC accreditation:
1. Work with TJC to become familiar with the standards; if your fees are paid,
they will assign a representative or liaison to the facility.
2. Go over the specifications, practice the tracer methodology, and undertake
safer analysis (using survey analysis to assess risk).
3. Evaluate your preparedness; compare your facility to the criteria
(performance components); this is typically done by management or an outside
vendor (mock survey).
4. Apply and pay the deposit (which is determined by the facility's size,
admission volume, and average daily census); specify a ready date within a year
after submitting the application.
5. Get ready for an on-site survey, write a description for the opening
conference, decide who will accompany surveyors, have an outside company
run mock surveys, and have at least four months' worth of essential performance
data.
6. Fill in any gaps that have been found and set a schedule for making any
necessary adjustments so that, by the time of your on-site inspection, you are in
compliance with all requirements.
7. Take part in the TJC survey itself. Qualified and trained surveyors will
conduct an intrusive examination of the policies, charts, minutes of the
governing board, medical executive committee, and credentialing processes.
8. Within 60 days of the survey's conclusion, do the post-survey follow-up,
