Deviance= behaviour that is not considered normal in society. However, this varies fro
culture to culture and throughout time. The behaviour must also be considered
undesirable.
Dysfunction= how the behaviour impacts daily life for the individual. Whether it preven
them holding down a job or financial responsibilities. Individual needs to be dysfunctio
in more than one area. However, this can be considered subjective.
Distress= if the behaviour causes upset to the individual. However, this is hard to measu
and is expressed differently be everyone.
Danger= whether the individual is a danger to themselves or others. The common
misconception is that the mentally ill are a high risk to others. Though they are more lik
to hurt themselves. However, these dangerous emotions are often hidden well.
