GLOBALIZATION- Increasing Interdependence of citizens and nations across the world.
GOVERNMENT- The legitimate use of force to control human behavior also the organization or agency
authorized to exercise that force.
NATIONAL SOVEREIGNITY- political entities externally recognized as right to exercise final authority
over its affair.
ORDER- Established ways of social behavior.
MAINTAINING ORDER- is the oldest purpose of government.
LIBERALISM- The belief that states should have individuals free to follow their individual pursuit.
COMMUNISM- Apolitical system in which, in theory, ownerships of all land and productive facilities is in
the hand of the people and all goods are equally shared. Production and distribution of good are controlled by
an authoritarian government.
PUBLIC GOODS- Benefits and services that benefit all citizens but are not likely to produced voluntarily
by individuals.
PLUTOCRATS- Government by the wealthy.
GOLDEN RULES OF POLITICS- He/she who has the gold and power makes the rule.
THOMAS HOBBES- “Without government life would be solitary, poor, nasty, brutish, short, and a
constant struggle to survive against the evil of others”
ENGLISH- the language of all trade
FREEDOM- absence of constraints and restraints.
GOVERNMENT PURPOSE
1. Maintaining order
2. Public goods
3. Military and law enforcement
4. Promoting Equality
EQUALITY- having the same status and privileges as everyone else
PROGRESSIVE TAXES- You pay taxes you earn more.
Dwight D. Eisenhower- The last republican who balanced the national budget.
REPUBLIC- Political order where the supreme power is in the hand od the citizen to vote for offices and
representative to represent them and will be responsible for them.
VALUES OF DEMOCRATIC FATE
1. POPULAR CONSENT- The ultimate power resides on the hand of the people. The government shoul
serve the people.
